St. Matthew, Chapter 24, verse: 11b; Many led astray.

Our paragraph topic is:  (He tells them of trials and hard times to come) Part 8.  

He told them of trials, tribulations, and hard times to come.  He foretold the future to them so they would know what would happen.  Christ knew all things and he wanted his disciples to know also.  More importantly he wanted them to know so they could prepare their followers for what was to come.  He gave them the knowledge so they could pass that knowledge down to their followers and to generations to come.  It is written for us today to know and believe what will follow.

Trials and tribulations and hard times.  These are the things that we will face as followers of Christ.  Yet we have the Advocate to help us.  We have the writings from the witnesses to tell us what happened during their walk with Christ.  And we have the words of Christ to carry with us in our hearts and minds, to keep us on the path to his kingdom.  He told his disciples:  "False prophets will arise, and will lead many astray."

Do not be led astray by false prophets of today.  There are many who would have you believe that they have the spirit of God within them and speak the truth.  One must ask oneself if this is true.  One must question what one hears and what one believes about the prophet that preaches the gospel to you.  The word is written for all to see, for all to believe, for all to know.  There is no need for interpretation.  One can understand by oneself if one desires.  One can know for oneself if one seeks.  One can find for oneself if one has a heart to know the truth of who the true God is and the love that he bears for all.

Christ came to open the door that all may know the Father.  He came to pay the price that all might have the opportunity to share in the kingdom of heaven if one believes in him and the father that sent him.  Love is the key to open the heart and the mind to the truth of who you are in him.  We are but clay vessels waiting to be born into our true selves.  To live is to die for we die everyday that we live.  And when our time comes that our clay vessels brake we burst forth into our spiritual selves be it either the light of life or the darkness of death.  

Christ awaits us with open arms.  His love is boundless.  His charity is endless. His mercy is forgiving.  His passion conquers all.  He is the fulfillment of all our needs and desires if we but believe.

St. Matthew, Chapter 24, verse: 9c; For my name's sake.

 Our paragraph topic is: (He tells them of trials and hard times to come) Part 3.  

The Bible is but a short story of what happened some two thousand years ago.  We live our lives today and can imagine the multitude of things that can happen in a day's time.  But to think about all the things that were happening during the life of Christ in a day's time and to have all of that written down would be immense.  Yet there they were, the disciples, walking with the Lord our God, talking and being in his presence.  It must have been the joy of a lifetime.  We only hope for what we desire to have in our future.  They lived in his presence in the past.

One can only imagine the effect he had upon their lives, their being, their souls, during his stay here on earth.  To walk with him, talk with him, touch him, feel him, hear his voice, then to see the torture and sacrifice he made would have been unimaginable.  But even more unbelievable would be to see him again after death and to know that he was alive again, that death had no power over him.  What power and majesty that must have given those who were witnesses to his glory.  And he told them: "And you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake."

We think today of the honor and prestige of working and being in the presence of men and women of power such as presidents and kings, and ceo's, billionaires, etc.  We seek to be like them to attain traits that they have so that we might become like them.  There is but one God and one Lord of all and no other.  There are powers and dominions in heaven and angels and saints but only one God and one Lord of all.  

Christ came and walked among us.  He spent time with mankind.  He loved us so much that he gave up his kingship and became like us.  He took up physical form that he might be with us.  And the disciples and many others had the opportunity to be with him during his stay.  But that was not the end of the story.  

He came that we might all have the opportunity to be with him, to walk with him, talk with him, hear him, see him, feel him, know him.  He came and opened the door for each and everyone of us to have that chance to be with him as the disciples did, if we choose.  The choice is ours.  All we have to do is ask him to come into our lives and believe that he will.  God is our Father.  He gave us life.  He loves us and wants us to be with him.  Come!  The door is open.  Let us go home and be with our Father.

St. Matthew, Chapter 24, verse: 3b; What signs?.

Our paragraph topic is:  (The disciples question Christ) Part 2.  

They wanted to know the when and where the destruction was to take place, the disciples.  Christ had told them that the Temple would be destroyed, that no stone would be left unturned one upon another.  They wanted to know when this was going to take place.  Their minds were full of questions and bewilderment.  

Now was not the time for them to know.  Now was not the time for all to be revealed to them the full knowledge of what was to happen.  There minds were not ready to accept the fullness of what was to happen.  There hearts were not filled with the spirit to be at peace with the knowledge of what was to happen.  And their faith and trust in God was not strong enough at this time for them to know that they would be secure in the protection of the Holy Spirit in what was to happen.  This is why they came to Christ asking:  "And what will be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?" 

If you drive around today you are liable to see corner preachers with signs proclaiming the end of the world is near.  In many large cities this may be the case to get people to turn from their ways back to church and back to God.  Telling people that the end is near may be true for some for who knows when their time may come.  Anyone could die today or tomorrow.  Anyone could leave their house walk out to the street and get hit by a car, a falling airplane, or even a meteor.  One never knows.  We all take our life as though we will live for a long time, at least until the end of our life expectancy.  We do not prepare as though that day may be the next minute or the next hour.

God is merciful and loving, kind and patient.  He gives each of us the opportunity to come to know him, time to cleans ourselves, time to repent of our sins.  But when that time comes it is final.  Thank you Father for the many opportunities that you have given me to come to know you.  Thank you for giving me the chance to repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness.  Thank you Father for holding my hand and walking with me to let me know the love that you have for me this day and every day.  I pray that I may be able to share that love with others that they too may also come to know you.  In Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen.

St. Matthew, Chapter 23, verses: 36; This Generation.

Our paragraph topic is:  (Their persecution of religion) Part 14.  

And the kingdom of heaven came upon them and they were not ready.  The opportunity for repentance came before them and they did not repent.  The day of judgment was there in their presences and they dismissed it as another hoax.  They were blind and could not see, deaf and could not hear, dumb and could not understand the changing of events taking place around them.

Farmers could read the change in the weather.  Politicians could read the change in the moods of the people.  Priest can understand the spiritual needs of their parishioners.  But the Scribes and the Pharisees were so engrained in their beliefs that they could not see the light of Christ that stood before them despite all the signs that were shown.  And Christ told them: Amen, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation."

Theirs was the endpoint of their time.  Christ had come to offer redemption.  They had rejected redemption and instead choose to fight it.  So the time had come to close the books, to end the persecution, to write the names of all those who were persecuted and all the names of those who persecuted the just.  Judgment day had come and their names were written in the judgment book along with all the others who had persecuted the just.

Thank you Father for the opportunity for redemption.  Thank you for the mercy you have shown us in giving me the chance to repent of my sins.  For I know not when or how or where I may be called upon to surrender my life and come before you for judgment.  But that the life I have lived at least I have had the opportunity to change my ways and repent of my sins.  I pray that if I may die tomorrow that you will have mercy upon my soul and not condemn me to hell.

My desire is to be with my savior Lord Jesus Christ in his kingdom that I may be fulfilled by his presence.  For he is my be all and end all.  There is nothing on this earth that can fill me more than his presence.  Thank you Father each day for the love and the protection that you give me and my family.  May we continue to walk the path that leads us to your kingdom.

St. Matthew, Chapter 23, verses: 26b; Clean first the inside!

Our paragraph topic is:  (Their hypocritical purity) Part 4.

 He had to teach them.  He had to help them to understand where they were.  He had to break through the darkness inside, to open a door so that they might have light to see what was inside.  They only cleansed the outside and thought they were pure.  But on the inside they were full of dirt and uncleanness.  All kinds of iniquities had taken over on the inside and they believed that it was okay to appear this way.  This was their purity on the inside and Christ had to teach them to see the truth of what was really inside.

So he called them out.  He told them they were impure.  He told the Pharisees they were like whited graves full of rotted bones on the inside, painted white on the outside to look clean.  This was the religion they practiced.  He told them:  "Clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside too may be clean."

 Clean the inside first.  Get all the garbage out of the inside.  Clean the mind, clean the thoughts, clean the actions, do right, do no wrong, speak good of your neighbors, be at peace with yourself and others, love your neighbor as yourself, hold fast to the beliefs given us by Christ as handed down through his teachings.  

There is so much that we must live with in this world in accordance with Christian beliefs.  Life does not offer opportunity to live according to the teachings of Christ.  There are times when we will be tempted.  Times when we will be put to the test to do otherwise.  There will be times when we must ask for forgiveness for not having the strength to follow our beliefs.  Yet if we can remember our teachings we can come back to the path we are given and seek his mercy to return to his wisdom of life for us.  

Surrender to his will and peace will be yours.  Seek to know his purpose for your life and you will find your way.  He came to unlock the chains of bondage to free us from slavery to sin.  He came to teach us how to live a life of peace and love, a life of knowledge and understanding.  He came to light the path that we may know the way to his kingdom, the path to the Father.  

Seek the knowledge that he has left for us to know.  Understand the wisdom that is within you to see.  Trust in the spirit that connects you to his love and to the Father, the creator of all things.  For he is the fulfillment of all desire and all joy and all happiness and desires of the soul.

St. Matthew, Chapter 23, verses: 23a; The Hypocrites.

Our paragraph topic is:  (They overstress the nonessential part of religion) Part 1.  

They were zealots in their desires to control the people.  They believed that every part of the Law must be applied to everyday life or else the people would find ways to get around the Law.  So they created rules to cover every possible way to keep the people in line and to limit any way that would allow outlets for them to get around the Law.

This is why Christ called them out on all the unnecessary rules they placed upon the people.  These were not rules in the Law.  They were only rules put in place by the Scribes and the Pharisees.  This is why Christ admonished them: "Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!"

Again he called them hypocrites in the face of the public that all would know them for what they were, and again the Scribes and the Pharisees were angered at being publicly humiliated.  But they could not see.  They could not understand.  They could not comprehend that this was an opportunity for them to realize who they were and what they had done to the people.  It was an opportunity for them to become open and be healed of their evil influences.  But this was not to happen.

Instead, as we know today, they were too far gone.  They were pawns in the game of chess between good and evil being played out for the prize of mankind.  Christ came to save us from the forces of evil that had held mankind in its grip since the garden of Eden.  Death was born and brought forth into the world and reigned until Christ came and conquered it.  He is the first of the new born.  He is the master and savior of the new man.  

All now have the chance at life instead of death.  All now have the opportunity at eternal life if they choose.  For the life here on this earth is only temporary.  But the life hereafter is for all eternity.  The comparison of life now to life eternal is but a speck of sand to the entire beach of sand.  Yet that choice is ours to make and we each must come to the awareness of who we are and why we are here.  Choose life eternal and not death.

Life is not about how much money you can make or your status, your home or car, or your clothes, or job.  Life is about life, and that is already given to you if you choose it.  Live a good life.  God will provide all that you need.  Trust in his love for you and he will provide.  Do not be anxious about tomorrow for you have a Father in heaven who knows what you need and he will take care of you.  He is loving and caring, protecting and providing.  All we need do is thank him for the saving grace he gives us.  Amen.

St. Matthew, Chapter 23, verses: 13b; Shutting the Kingdom of Heaven.

Our paragraph topic is:  (Woe to the Scribes and Pharisees) Part 2.  

In this paragraph Christ continues to scold the Scribes and the Pharisees on the wrongs they are committing against the people.  He scolds them not to berate them but to show them the error of their ways and hopefully to heal them.  He wants to give them every opportunity to change, every opportunity to turn from their evil ways, every opportunity to save their souls from the possession of evil within them.

They are the leaders and pillars of the religious community responsible for the souls of the people.  Yet they do not open the doors of heaven.  They do not show how to follow the commandments of God, they are not the examples of faith that the people need to return to God.  Christ calls them hypocrites:  "Because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men."

They knew the consequences of their actions.  But they did not care.  They only believed in their actions to maintain their own status in society.  They were privileged people.  They were honored in the public places.  They were recognized for their positions.  They were believed to be pious and holy followers of the Laws of God.  Yet the truth was exactly the opposite.  For behind closed doors the piety came off, the beliefs were different and they cared not for the people of God.

We see many examples of this same behavior today.  People profess to be one way in public but out of the public eye they are an entirely different person.  God sees what we do and how we think.  He knows our inner most thoughts.  We cannot hide from his gaze, he knows who we are.  Yet for those who are true to his sight, those who make an effort to follow his commandments, even though they may stumble and fall, he still loves and forgives.

Our belief in him opens the door to his heart.  Our faith in his promise transforms us into his children.  Our trust in his glory gives us the guidance needed to walk a path lit by the light of the spirit.  Our knowledge of the things that he has done for us, his protection, his provisions, strengthens us to know the truth of who we are in him.  Our love for him grows daily with each waking hour because we have the proof and the delight of being able to see his light of life within us as we know who we are.

God is our Father.  He is our creator.  Christ Jesus is our Lord and our Redeemer.  Through the love of God and the passion of Christ we have the choice today to choose.  We are not dead.  We can have life and have it more abundantly.  The choice is ours to make.  Open the door and he will come to you.  Seek his love and he will touch you.  Allow your heart to know that you are loved and you will see the truth of who you are in him.  God is love.  Christ is our redeemer.  The Holy Spirit is our guide.  Belief is your key to a new life, eternally.

St. Matthew, Chapter 22, verses: 46a; No One?

Our paragraph topic is: (The son of David) Part 6. 

They heard the question put to them by Christ.  The Pharisees came together to ask Christ a question but instead since they were all gathered together he had the perfect opportunity to test them.  So he asked them a question.  Whose son was the Christ?  To whom did he belong?  Was he the son of David?

That is what they thought and believed.  That is what they knew from their studies.  But they did not go further in their studies to understand the knowledge that David knew, in the spirit, when he was present with his Lord speaking to the Lord of Lords.  David knew the outcome.  He knew that the Christ would come from his lineage.  He also knew that the Christ came before him and was his Lord and savior, even though he sprang from the flesh of his flesh.  And no one could answer him a word.   

No one wanted to have the last word.  No one wanted to be in the right.  No one wanted to show his knowledge of the word but failed when he came against the Lord of Lords.  The battle had gone on long enough.  No one had come many times to question Christ.  He had conspired with the Pharisees to trick him on many occasions.  But now Christ had them all together that he could speak to No One and end the constant attempts at questioning him.  He spoke to the Pharisees in a language that they could understand and he spoke to No One in a language that it could understand so that the battle would end.  And No One could answer him not a word.

We speak in words that have meaning beyond meaning.  They go deeper than just the surface of our speech.  And with the deeper meaning comes understanding of a different nature.  Some understanding is good some not so good.  We are mindful that the spoken word comes not, most times, without harmful intent.  Yet in other occasions the deeper meaning is quite obvious as being harmful and malicious.  How we respond determines our inner being?  Are we a loving person?  Are we an understanding person?  Are we a vengeful person who wants to retaliate in kind?  

Christ came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.  His passion transcends the trivial darts and arrows that we might suffer from each other.  It allows us to become transparent; it allows such harm to pass through us as we focus on the love of the one who gave us life and the forgiveness of the one whom we shot our arrow of sin against.  Our God is full of mercy.  He is a God of love for all his creations.  I am.  I did not exist but now I am.   I will be thanks to the love of Jesus Christ.  Will you be?

St. Matthew, Chapter 22, verses: 43b-44; Thy Enemies thy footstool.

Our paragraph topic is:  (The son of David) Part 4.  

Here they were all gathered together, the Pharisees, with the intent of questioning Christ.  But their gathering presented an opportunity for Christ to question them, an opportunity to open their minds, an opportunity to help them see what they failed to see before.  What did they think of the Christ?  Whose son was he?  

Obviously they believed that he was the son of David.  This was their belief all along.  It was written in their history and their ancestry.  But in the scriptures there was another interpretation for them to see and Christ had the chance to open their eyes to this new reading.  So he asked them how is it that David in the spirit is:  "Saying,  ‘The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool? "  

And that was the paradox of the question, the Lord of my Lord.  If my son is born of my flesh how can he be my Lord unless he is greater than I?  Is that something that I, we, can concede?  Can the Pharisees believe this in their doctrine of beliefs?  Is this possible?  Is the Christ, son of David greater than David himself?  Can this be true?  This would take some study and review to determine the nature of the truth for the Pharisees.  

What is the nature of the truth for us today?  Can we believe in the Christ?  Can we believe in his words as handed down through the centuries of writings of the many bibles available today? Or do we need to do our own research, go on our own quest in search of the truth to find the God of our beliefs.  He is out there waiting for you to find him, waiting for you to search for him.  Most of all he is in you waiting for you to look within to see him in yourself and in others.  He is a God of Love.  He is a God of faith.  He is a God of forgiveness.  He is a God of mercy.  He is a God seeking you.

St. Matthew, Chapter 22, verses: 40; The Whole Law.

Our paragraph topic is:  (The great commandment) Part 7.   

Here they were the great scholars and the masters of the Law before Christ attempting to trick him with their knowledge of the Law which was handed down to their forefathers from God on one side and there was Christ teaching them from the mouth of God the truth of the Law on the other side.  What a contradiction it was.  They could not see or understand who stood before them, Christ giving them every opportunity to have their eyes opened.

It is said that some people  even when faced with the truth refuse to allow themselves to believe what reality presents to them.  Instead they create false reasons and rationales to continue to support their internal belief systems they have created for themselves.  The Pharisees had the first commandment.  They knew and understood it well.  It was Christ who had to introduce them to the second commandment upon which the Law is based.  And he told them:  "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."  

Love was the basis for the Law.  Love the Lord with thy whole heart and soul and mind.  Love thy neighbor as thyself.  Be good to one another.  For the life we live today we will live in heaven with our heavenly father.  There will be no strife.  There will be no anger, no hatred, no fear, no doubt, no darkness as we know it on earth.  We will live in the light of the Lord our God and he will provide all our needs.  Our happiness comes from and flows through him.  We will be fulfilled in peace and harmony with the Lord.

St. Matthew, Chapter 22, verse: 19; The Coin.

Our paragraph topic is:  (Tribute to Caesar) Part 7.  

Christ knew nothing of money.  He had none.  His kingdom was not of this world.  His father provided all his needs and he lacked for nothing.  His lodging was provided for.  His food was given to him through his disciples.  He had clothing.  He had friends and followers who cared for his every need.  So he had no need for the trappings of the average person who sought to have wealth and money and valuables. 

But the Herodians sought to bring this concern to him so that they might have his thoughts on the earthly desires of who mankind should serve.  They asked Christ should man give tribute to Caesar.  Christ in turn asked:  "Show me the coin of the tribute." So they offered him a denarius.  

They offered him a coin with the face of Caesar so they could determine if he would say give tribute to Caesar.  By saying such he would be telling the people to not give tribute to their God as they were given to do for centuries.  For it was their duty as Jews to give tithes to the temple to support the synagogues throughout the years as members of the Jewish faith.  Yet here they were, the Herodians, seeking to get Christ so say otherwise.  But he knew of their trickery.  He knew of their wickedness and he saw through their schemes to trap him.  

They did not know who was before them.  They believed that Christ was an ordinary man, that he was a fake, a fraud, seeking to mislead the people.  The Torah had foretold of the coming of the Messiah.  It spoke of what he would do when he came.  Yet they did not believe or understand that he was the one who had come.  Others were able to see.  Others were able to hear the words that filled their hearts.  Others were able to believe within themselves that he was the One and their hearts were filled with the joy of a lifetime.  Yet there were those who could only believe that he was a fake or a fraud, that he sought to mislead, sought to take away their power and cause trouble for them.

Blessed were they who knew.  Blessed were they who were able to walk in the light.  Blessed were they who were able to hear the words that filled their hearts with joy.  Blessed were they who had such an opportunity in their lifetime to believe in what their hearts told them was the truth.  And blessed will you be when your eyes are opened and your ears hear and you are healed and walk in the light of the Lord.  No longer will you walk in darkness.  No longer will you stumble and fall.  No longer will you loose your way because he will be with you at all times.  He will light your way and guide you along the path of your journey.  Come!  Step out of the darkness into the light.  Become the child of God that you are.  He awaits you.  Christ awaits you.  The angels rejoice at your rebirth.

Read the sign of the times! Read the Highlighted New Testament Bible and lift the scales from your eyes that you may see, that you may know, that you may find the truth of who you are in Christ. Read it as though you would read a good book, from cover to cover, and see for yourself. Do not study it in parts reading one passage nd then skipping to another, but read it for understanding. Read it for knowledge. Read it for faith. Read it that your eyes may be opened, that your ears may hear, that your heart may be filled with the light of Christ .   The Holy Spirit awaits you. Christ seeks to know you. Open the door and let him in.
