St Matthew, Chapter 17, verse: 19c, Faith to move Mountains.

Our paragraph topic is:  (Why the disciples could not cure him) Part 3.

Try as they might the disciples were not successful.  They were unable to remove the demon from the child.  The father begged them.  They tried all they knew.  They remembered that Christ had given them powers to cast out demons as they entered the towns and villages going before him.  But this was different and they did not understand why.  Christ had given them powers to do the work and now that the work was completed they did not have the power.  They could not cast out this demon.  What was different?

Did they not continue to have the power?  Was the power taken away?  Was the power only temporary?  What was happening?  They asked Christ why and he told them of their little faith.  He told them that even though he had given them the power to cast out demons in his name they lacked faith.  Their faith was so empty that it could be compared to that of a mustard seed.  Yet with only a small amount of faith, the size of a mustard seed even, they could move mountains.  He told them:  "You will say to this mountain,
'Remove from here'; and it will remove."

How do you say to a mountain 'Remove from here?'  How do you mentally speak something that mentally you know is impossible?  How do you begin to believe that such a thing is possible?  We dream, we fantasize, we create heroes and monsters in our minds and bring them to life in the movies and in books and magazines and they are capable of doing the impossible.  But all this, we know, is only fantasy, make believe, wishful thinking.  All those dreams and desires and impossible things that we would like to happen in our lives and in the world, are only ideas and thought within our heads.  We do not envision that we will ever have the power to do the things that we dream of.  Yet they are the desires of our hearts, things that we would like to do, powers that we would like to have. 

We have read the stories in the Bible where Moses parted the Red Sea to allow the Israelites to escape from the Egyptian armies.  We have read about the Manna from heaven.  We have read about the water that came from the rock.  Do we believe in the stories that we read about in the Bible or are they just fiction?  Our minds have sought to make sense of the miracles that we have read.  Even through scientific evidence, we have attempted to prove these things happened naturally without the intervention of God.  So we fall short of true belief, fall short of true faith, and have not the faith of a mustard seed because of what our physical belief tells us is impossible.

I have not tried to speak to a mountain to have it moved.  I have not tried to do things that would seem unnatural.  But I know that I have faith.  I know that I am loved.  I know that the spirit of Christ lives within me.  And I believe that through Him nothing is impossible.  Will I try to prove it?  Do I have to prove it to know that it is possible?  Do I have to see with my own eyes, to feel with my own body, to smell with my own sense of smell, to know that it is possible?  No!  But that does not stop me from knowing that I have the faith to believe with certainty, with the faith of a mustard seed, that all things are possible with God.  And there is the difference.  We seem to know through our physical being but we lack the certainty to believe within our spiritual being.  For it is through the spirit that we have certainty.  It is through the spirit that we see who we are.  It is through the spirit that we transform ourselves beyond the physical being to who we are in the spirit. 

We are created in the image and likeness of our father.  He gave us life.  He gave us breath.  And he gave us the physical, to experience who we are in him.  It is not through the physical that we are.  It is not through our arms and our legs, and our physical ability that we exist.  It is only through the spiritual being that is within the physical that we are.  Are you dead to the spirit?  Do you not know that you are a spiritual being and not a physical being?  Can you not see the spirit within, to know?  Do you not have the light of Christ within you that you might

see who you are?  Come!  Walk with me on this journey!  Experience the truth of who you are.  Know the true light that is within you and you will see for yourself that you too can have the power to say to mountains to remove from here and it will be done for you.  Christ loves you so much that to experience his love will overwhelm you.  He is our desire.  He is our fulfillment.  He is our love, our protection, our provision.  Open the door and let him in.  Follow the path set before you and see the light within. 

Read the sign of the times! Read the Highlighted New Testament Bible and lift the scales from your eyes that you may see, that you may know, that you may find the truth of who you are in Christ. Read it as though you would read a good book, from cover to cover, and see for yourself. Do not study it in parts reading one passage and then skipping to another, but read it for understanding. Read it for knowledge. Read it for faith. Read it that your eyes may be opened, that your ears may hear, that your heart may be filled with the light of Christ. The Holy Spirit awaits you. Christ seeks to know you. Open the door and let him in. 
 

St Matthew, Chapter 12, verse: 29, Christ's promise to plunder.

So the Pharisees wanted to do battle and they brought their fight to Christ.  They accused him of having the power of Satan to cast out demons.  This was their way of casting doubt.  This was their way of bringing fear.  This was their way of dividing the people so that they could regain the control that they were loosing to the teachings and miracles of Christ.  In their crooked minds they thought that by making this statement they would bring a shadow over Christ and cause the people to wonder.  But Christ brought the fight to them.  He told them a house divided would not stand.  He told them that by their fear and doubt their children would be their judges on the day of judgment.  He told them that because of their blindness that the kingdom of God had come upon them and they did not even know it.  The battle continued.

And as the final blows took place, Christ brings the TKO to the Pharisees with these words: "How can anyone enter the strong man's house, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man?  Then he will plunder his house."   So Christ gave them a forewarning of things to come.  He would plunder their house of authority over the people.  He would bind their power and release the people, loosing them from the authority of the Pharisees.  This was a prophecy to the Pharisees who then had to stand back and take heed of these words.  For they were warnings that they could not overlook.  They were signs of the times that they had to address.  These words were a slap in their face of their coming demise.  They did not know.  They did not understand the one that they came before.  They only saw him as a man and not the Messiah.

Not only did Christ speak to the Pharisees but he also spoke to the demons that possessed the Pharisees that led them to come against Christ.  He spoke to the demons of the coming downfall of their authority.  He spoke to the demons of their house being plundered and all of their treasures being taken away.  For what did the demons treasure most, the capture of the righteous 
souls of men, for Christ had not yet completed his mission.  What did they seek to accomplish day in and day out, except to bring mankind to turn against God and to live in hell with them for the rest of eternity.  But Christ spoke to them through the Pharisees.  The strong man is being bound and the house of hell will be plundered.  And the righteous souls of hell would be released and brought to the kingdom of God for all eternity.

Which side will you belong, in the coming battle?  Which side will you lend your support?  Judge wisely or judge not.  The decision is made, with or without your consent, for the judge will decide for those who wait.  Be not dead to the kingdom of God, for it is upon you.  Judgment will come when you least expect it, whether you are prepared or not.  The dead of the world are dead.  They do not know.  They do not believe.  They will discover the truth.  Open your eyes, now.  Open your minds, now.  Open your hearts, now, to the wisdom of God and he will bring you to salvation.  Be not the fence dweller.  Be not the changeling, part in the world and part in the spirit.  The two do not coexist together in you.  You are either of the world completely or of the spirit completely.  Otherwise you choose to walk the fence.  And those who walk the fence can be snatched off by evil. 

The battle continues even today.  Where does your soul belong?  Does it belong to Christ or to the devil?  You do not know!  Christ calls to you to come to him, not partially but totally.  Give to him totally and he will give to you completely.  Most people fear giving themselves to Christ because they still belong to the world.  Deep down they believe that total commitment to Christ is for those religious fanatics and not for them. So they continue to do the repetitious behaviors only giving on the surface and not giving deeply, down to the heart.  Christ wants 100% and not 50%.  Christ wants all of you and not half to him and half to the devil.  Release your soul from evil.  Come to Christ.  If you only knew the riches of his rewards you would run into his arms.  Christ awaits you!  The Holy Spirit desires to be with you!  God the Father loves you!

St Matthew, Chapter 10, verse: 19b, The Enemy and his Tricks.

Christ continues his discussion with his disciples concerning how they are to respond when they are delivered up to the governors and kings.  He is preparing his disciples for mental and spiritual training.  He has told them that they are not to be anxious when they are delivered up.  He wants them to understand what anxiety does to them.  He wants them to understand that anxiety opens the door for the spiritual demons to come in and destroy their defenses.  Anxiety will cause them to be fearful.  Anxiety will lead them to think about the consequences of what will or may happen.  It will take their focus off of today and put it in the past or in the future.  Anxiety will cause their minds to consider endless possibilities of events that are not real and keep them in a circle of fear.  The design of anxiety is to take control and give way to fear.  And it is this fear that prevents the word of God from operating in their lives.

The disciples must remain calm.  They must focus upon the words that Christ has given them,"Do not be anxious how or what you are to speak."   By maintaining mental and spiritual clarity the enemy will not be able to enter the mind or the spirit.  They enemy will have no foothold upon them.  The door will be closed to fear without having any way of entering.  So Christ says this to his disciples so that they can prepare themselves.  The disciples have been with Christ long enough to know that he speaks with authority.  What he says comes true.  What he says is the truth and they can rely upon his words.  They have seen the results of his words, the results of his actions, and they have come to believe and have faith in who he is. 

Why does he tell them to not be anxious?  It is important that they do not allow their minds to not be filled with fear.  It is important that they not attempt to determine for themselves what they are to say, what will be the best words, what will have the most effect.  When they are considering what to say the enemy can read their thoughts.  They enemy can plan an attack that will lead them into destruction.  But with their minds clear, their spirits calm in Christ, the enemy has no clue what is happening.  Then Christ explains why he wants them not to consider what they are to speak.  He tells them, "For what you are to speak will be given you in that hour." 

You see, with the mind clear from fear, the words that they are to speak will be given to them.  The words that they are to say will come to them.  The words that they are to use to defeat the enemy will be spoken by the Holy Spirit through their mouths.  So Christ wants them to be prepared to receive the Holy Spirit.  He wants them to know that they have a companion with them that will defeat the enemy.  He wants them to be bold and steadfast in the battle they will face with the evil spirits that they will face.  This is a wake up all for us today. It is a tool, a weapon that we can use in our daily lives when we face trials and tribulations with the enemy.  Do not be anxious.  Do not be fearful.  For what you are to say and what you are to do will be given to you.  And the enemy will not know how to read you.  They enemy will not know how to defeat you.  The enemy will not know who you are until he sees the power of the Holy Spirit speaking through you. 

Christ trained his disciples well in preparation for the battle.  He has given us words to help us train today to be bold and steadfast and fearless.  Will you head the words of Christ?  Will you accept the training that he gave to his disciples and that he has provide for you today?  Clear your mind.  Calm your spirit.  Be receptive to the word from the Holy Spirit and you will prevail.  Can you hear the words of the Holy Spirit speaking to you, today?
